CURSO POSTEVENTO EN LA TEMATICA DE CONTROL AUTOMATICO:

Modeling and Design of Discrete Systems: A Petri Net Approach

Prof. José Reinaldo Silva

Discrete systems, and particularly the distributed one, are present in the daylife of anybody who lives in urban centers. Everyday, the number of new systems available grows and also the integration among them, building a complex arrangement where information flows from one system from another. Embedded and ubiquitous systems merge to information and tagged systems to provide huge information facilities or even supply chains of complex products. However, the design of such flows should be carefully programmed, otherwise, what seems to be an advantage could become a tragic succession of mistakes.

Petri Nets are the most used formal representation used to model validate and verify this class of systems. In this course we plan to visit an overview of the principal aspects of the modeling and design activity based on Petri Nets, starting with simple models up to complex condition systems and tagged systems or colored systems. All steps will be followed by special software tools available as freeware tools that could give a flavor on how to analyze real systems.
